Hi, all -
If you’re reading this, you’re subscribed to my newsletter, which means I owe you an enormous hug. However, I also owe you an enormous update, because I haven’t sent one of these emails in several months (oops!).
At the end of this letter, I have some VERY exciting news to share. But before then, let me give you some background…
Three years ago, I was just a lonely corporate girlie living in New York City and dreaming of writing novels one day. I made newsletters for other people for a living; I never thought I would have my own.
Odds are, you were brought to this newsletter by reading my first trilogy, The Sunken City. If that’s true - THANK YOU!!! It is because of each and every one of you that my distant, star-speckled dream of being a novelist became a reality. :)
So, what have I been up to since I last sent one of these newsletters? Well, quite a lot, if I’m being honest.
First, some personal news - on March 11th, I got engaged! If you follow me on TikTok or Instagram, you probably saw the video I posted of Pontus’s proposal. He took me by complete surprise, but I was over the moon. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my very best friend. We should have a wedding website soon, and I’ll be sure to share it with you all.
On that same note, Pontus and I got a dog last December. Her name is Chow, and she’s a teacup Pomeranian - and probably the cutest creature I have ever laid eyes on. To say I’m obsessed would be an understatement.
Now, onto the juicy stuff…
If you’re here because you loved The Sunken City, I have some very exciting news to share. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that I recently wrote the first book in a new YA fantasy series. The book is called MARE OF NIGHT, and it combines everything I love best about fantasy: love, adventure, mythology, high school drama, and a swoony, Damon Salvatore-esque love interest.
Two weeks ago, my agent pitched this series to a handful of major YA fantasy editors. While I can’t go into any specifics, I can say that we received interest faster than I could ever have imagined, and I think I will have some VERY exciting news to share this coming Tuesday.
In the coming weeks, you can expect to get all the info on MARE OF NIGHT via this newsletter before it goes public. I’m talking cover reveal, first chapter preview, and much, much more…
Stay tuned for more!!
xo,
Emma
